Four U.S. Teams Will Join Five From Jamaica In Boys 4x400 Relay Finals At Franklin Field By Doug Binder, DyeStat There was no holding back Bullis freshman Quincy Wilson, even in the prelims. On Thursday at Franklin Field, Wilson fulfilled one of his dreams by competing in a Bullis uniform at Penn Relays and he made his debut memorable by splitting 45.06 to help Bullis advance to the Championship of America final. The high school boys 4x400 will conclude Friday afternoon instead of its usual spot on Saturday's schedule. Wilson won the New Balance Nationals Indoor title in March in Boston, running 46.67 on the 200-meter oval. In Philadelphia, Wilson powered Bullis home in 3:14.12, the fastest of the day. Another U.S. team, Bishop Loughlin NY, was second-fastest with 3:14.24. Fabian Gonzalez of Southern Regional NJ launched a US#1 throw of 203-2 to place second in the boys discus behind Puerto Rican thrower Nathan Villegas-Reyes (205-0). Benjamin Shue of Bergen Catholic NJ finished fourth with 196-8. Kenneth Ikeji and Stephanie Ratcliffe of Harvard swept the collegiate hammer titles. Ikeji won the men's competition with 243-2 and Ratcliffe threw 231-7 to win the women's contest by 12 feet. Wyatt Stewart of Madison Central KY won the boys pole vault with a clearance at US#8 16-8. Samantha Tran of Michigan ran to victory in the collegiate women's 1,500 meters, in 4:15.47. Gavin Gaynor of N.C. State won the men's race in 3:40.24. More news |
